MAY 2010

"Sniderman’s vocals are a standout, and are clearly the focus of the album. Her voice has power without being overpowering. She flows through melodic lines without distracting flips or ever having to shout at the audience." (Muzik Reviews)

Push and Pull

Inspired, compelling stories of love, loss and longing spill out and take you, shake you, and wake you-emotionally evocative, intelligent, vocal driven *pop rock*...

Greetings:

up close and personal...here's to wherever we are on the journey

Maybe you've heard the expression about life being a flowing river? I'm thinking maybe it's a car. Lately
I've been vacillating between seeing myself as life's driver and life's passenger. There are many moments I think I'm in the driver's seat, actively steering toward a certain destination only to realize I'm just a passenger in life's white convertible '56 T-bird...along for all the bumps and winding roads and for those perfect top-down-on-a-sunday-afternoon smooth rides too. It's all part of the journey. The bumps wake us up, make us take notice, make changes in our route. They are character building. Nothing very interesting happens on the smooth parts. I keep seeing the quote, "Life isn't about avoiding the storms but learning how to dance in the rain." Today I am happily bumping along, dancing in the T-bird. Hoping you are dancing in your car too.

memorable musical moments..  the muse is attracting; is the universe connecting ?

What an inspiring month May has already turned out to be musically! Highlight was recording three new singles with a great producer and stellar musicians in Los Angeles. Thanks to Dave, we have some great studio footage, and you can see some of the action above. The songs are being mixed as I am writing this, and I look forward to sharing them with you when they are ready!

On May 5th, I was privileged to be the feature artist and had an in-depth interview for a Music In Action series. If you are interested in knowing how Aoede got it's name and start, which comes first-music or lyrics, how Aoede is bringing together music and environmental issues, discussions about the Gulf and the impacts from the latest oil spill, what's next for Aoede, and many more probing questions, please click on the above link and listen while you are washing dishes, cooking pasta, washing the dog, surfing the net, knitting, drinking wine... Classic, who conducted the interview said: "You are absolutely a great role model for other artists." I am touched.

I found and spoke with a wonderful producer who specializes in children's music and hope to move the recording of the water songs forward! I am quickly realizing that to develop the book, cd and possibly other media such as film will take some funding and have started researching creative funding opportunities. If any of you know grant or other programs that fund individual artists, environmental education, music, please let me know! I will have more details soon.

Would love your help! Last month I mentioned that Push and Pull is now available at Barnes and Noble and Best Buy online. It would be so great if any of you who have and love the CD or have been moved by the songs could just click the links and leave a few words about how the CD makes you feel in the reviews so they don't look so naked!  many heartfelt thanks! :)
