Greetings!
Here's hoping this newsletter finds you
fabulous-this one will be shorter (and sweet) and wil
focus on some special upcoming shows... onto a
few newsie bits...
(1) Heading to Nashville in
April?! Tour? Time and the economy will
tell... We're still figuring this one
out-our current thoughts (firmly cast in
jello) are to fly in and out to do the
showcase in April. This depends whether
we will play in Baton Rouge this go
around...we are also putting the ball in motion
for a Southern CA and
Phoenix, AZ tour possibly early May... stay
tuned all!
(2) SHOWS (see side
bar)
This month, on Thursday, March 19,
10pm, please join
Aoede (band), Reckless in Vegas
(colorful power trio) with Cwiggs at cozy,
historic THE HOTEL UTAH in San
Francisco. I have asked a friend to do some live
painting!!! The talented Marianna should be joining us
on keys, and we may even have a special guest
sit-in on sax... Reckless in Vegas is currently
touring (Utah, CA, NV) and should be putting on
quite a show! Come on out and join
us!
For a more acoustic flavored set, Saturday, March
28th starting at 7pm, catch Aoede at Caffe
Trieste in San Francisco, where we'll be sharing the
stage with a wonderful indie folk musician Lisa Safran from Detention and
friends. We will be co-hosting local music and other
variety events at the Caffe Trieste-fourth Saturday
night of each month...we plan to put together a spring
singles event in the near future so stay
tuned!
Last month I mentioned the WomenROCK
Goddesses of Harmony show at the Great American
Music Hall March 5, celebrating the third anniversary
of WomenROCK -the SF Bay Area's music, art and
activist collective that Aoede helped co-found ...it
was a great success from the high attendance to
amazing performances, sponsorships, collaborations,
and general good times...was fun to take part in such
an epic event...
On that note, if you are
so moved, please join our cause! This is a personal
request to YOU to please support WomenROCK in any way
that you can: e.g.: become an active member
(musician, artist, planner, graphic designer,
promoter, producer, volunteer coordinator, sponsor,
sound/stage manager, reviewer, blogger, photographer,
etc.) THANK YOU!

(3) Stories
Behind Push and Pull: the seeds for Paper
Tiger These stories are just for
YOU...Here's the little story
behind
Paper Tiger. This tune is on the album
(and up on our website)...it was inspired by the
lead singer, Justin Sullivan, from one of my favorite
bands, New Model Army-kind of a British
U-2...very poetic, political but humanitarian
lyrics...he started making solo albums and one of the
songs was about dreaming of oceans-kind of a 180 from
his earlier lyrics, 51st State of America or Here
Comes the War-so I pictured him as a Paper Tiger
and my lyric starts out with him under the
stage lights all dressed in scary looking black
leather...first track on the album.
What are you
listening to? Any great artists
you want to shout out about? Write me and I'll include
your list with mine in future
newsletters-
Huge thanks as always to YOU for reading
and supporting and please write and update me! We
couldn't do this without you!
