Greetings
IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU.. OH MY
GOD!! I am SO inspired to be sending you this this month...WHY you
ask? Because Dave and I went to a music strategies workshop in LA
this weekend, and we both came back all bursting and teeming with
new ideas, inspiration to try crazy things and realizations that I
can't believe I didn't get earlier than this-like if you are reading
this, it is not primarily about "the songs" I write or the even "the
band" per se-it's all about YOU and my/our relationship and
connection to YOU. Well of course it is! you motion
exasperated...but somewhere along the way, I lost sight of that, and
that changes NOW.
We'd LikeTo Get to know you...or get re-acquainted! We
are blessed that so many people have expressed that our music
touches them by signing our mailing list or buying our CD-so much
that it would be difficult to reach out personally to each of you
every month, so, as a result, some of you we know well, and some
we've only scratched the surface. We also would like to build a
community of people with like interests and think that many of you
would be inspired by so much more than just the music. That said,
we'd like to know more about YOU and why you are connected to us.
Are you moved by the music? Do you get inspiration from these
newsletters and our invitations to you? Do you want to see new and
different things in them each month? Tell me-if you reach out, we
can start building that community. As incentive, I'll send you a
free
download if you send me email telling me more about you
and what drew you to us. What kind of events would compel you to
come? Do you have kids who would want to come be entertained while
you were as well? Get creative-tell us what would bring you out to
come see us! I'm also looking to you to describe what we do-in three
words-send them on. This month I've added a Cool Stuff
area so check it out and let me know if you have stuff to
include next time!
For our San Francisco Bay Area friends and fans, lets meet for an
"I'm Glad I Got-to-Know-You!" Saturday brunch in San Francisco
during July-September-more details to come but save the dates
July 25, Aug 22, Sep
19th !
CALL to
Bay Area Multi-Media Artists, Other Musicians, and Film-Makers-lets
make a community!
We put on a few shows where we brought artists to show their art
while we were playing live-the most fun was where we had local
calligrapher Mafink to do live painting behind us while we played.
This is a call to all of you Bay Area artists who want to
collaborate with us-send me email if you want to
collaborate on shows of all types-it could be a gallery showing your
art and music in the background-it could be a live works to
music-lets get creative and try stuff that others haven't done yet!
We're also seeking a multi-instrumentalist for out there
gigs-let me know if this is you or someone you know...
SHOWS This
month, on Sunday, June 14, we are privileged to contribute
our original tunes to a local Bernal Heights
community-supported/supportive? haunt called the Stray Bar-these
gals rock! Stray
Bar just initiated these
events:
SUNDAY
BLOODY SUNDAY ACOUSTIC SUNDAYS! Shows are from 4-6pm. Acc. to Stray
Bar, Ben & Jonathan stir up the best Bloody Mary's on the
West Coast and provide you with a myriad of options to mix and add
to into your Sunday special. And while you sip and enjoy this
chilled, tangy, nutrient-filled (perhaps some alcohol too?)
concoction, we invite you to sit back and enjoy our guest performers
for our acoustic Sunday performances..opening the event will be
Stray Bar's very own Jonathan the bartender! Then
Aoede-acoustic...
even if
you don't drink a thing, this should be a fun time for all over
21...we are happy to be part of this b/c they are such great
community folk!
and WomenROCK is
just getting better and better-I think there are so many talented
cool women artists who just need to be heard-this weekend, you can
check out some WR acts at the Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa, and
next week, come hear new artists at the Bazaar cafe-we're creating
our own community there-come be part of it-this month, June 17,
D'Tension along with Vanessa Verlee and Aoede. And are you a female
artist and want to play at Bazaar Cafe on a future Wednesday?? Email
me!
and you
SANTA ROSA or vicinity folks save the dates Sat, July 18 and Aug 29-we'll
be playing in your hood at Aroma Roasters.
Stories Behind Push and Pull: the
seeds for You Don't Know Me...as usual, these
stories are just for you-thank you for making a connection! Do you
remember in high school-there was that one popular, rich girl who we
girls idolized, imitated, and at the same time may have talked about
behind her back, being that girls can be so mean? But all the while,
we never took time to get to know her-just assumed her life was so
much better than our own b/c she must have had it all-that lucky
kid? This song speaks to that-from both points of view...you can
hear it on My Myspace page
as well as the album.
Huge thanks
as always to YOU for reading and supporting and please write and
update me! We couldn't do this without you!
