Greetings
Here's hoping this newsletter finds you well and off to a
productive and pain-free February. So many changes in
2009-for the better we are hoping-esp. when life is giving
so many of us lemons...I know I'm being spared layoffs for
the time being in lieu of a 2 day a month unpaid work
"furlough"... I'll take it-perhaps inspiration will hit on
those days?! ... And now, onto a few newsie bits...
(1) Music catalog/licensing Some of our music from Push and
Pull has been selected to be included in a music
catalog for songs, film/tv, advertising and web-more to tell
in a future newsletter I hope!
(2) Heading to Nashville in April!
As I noted, we will be playing an industry showcase and are
arranging a tour along the way to hopefully go through AZ,
TX, LA and TN and poss. S CA on the return..stay tuned.
(3) SHOWS (see side bar)
This month, on Friday, February 27 at
7:30-9:30 (yay-an early show!), please join Aoede
(band) and Entamoeba
in San Francisco, as well as talented artists Todd Laby,
Jill Harrell, Maggie Hurley and Doug Logan, for a
spectacular feast for the ears and eyes..."Sound & Vision: A
Multi-Media Affair at The Makeout Room" During band

Then on Saturday,
February 28th starting at 7pm, catch Aoede at
Caffe Trieste in San Francisco, where we'll be sharing the
stage with a wonderful indie folk musician Lisa Safran and
friends. We will be co-hosting local music and other variety
events at the Caffe Trieste-fourth Saturday night of each
month...this month: Show Me The Love-in honor of
Valentine's...we'll include a special Through With Love

V-Day stuff...something for each of you!
Heads up for a great WomenROCK show in March
too...we're not performing but for those of you in the
San Francisco Bay Area come on out for a night of not to be
missed music Thursday March 5 celebrating the third
anniversary of WomenROCK-the SF Bay Area's music, art and
activist collective that Aoede helped co-found , a cd
release and more at the Great American Music Hall...check
out the
Goddesses of Harmony.
(4) Stories Behind Push and Pull: the seeds for
Get Some Strange These stories are just for
YOU...Here's the little story behind Get Some Strange
This tune is on the album (but not up on myspace)...it was
inspired by the personals and first written as an exercise
for a songwriting class-the first line starts, I'm an
executive cowboy with a mercedes and a pick-up, and was
based on a line from the San Francisco newspaper personal
ads. I stumbled onto the expression get some strange late in
life, and when I first heard it, I knew it had to be a song
title. It was initially the title track for the album as
well, until we re-thought the theme and album photography
(my dream of having our album cover shot in SF outside of
the house of falling furniture (where clocks and chairs and
tables stick out of the windows, see pic above), will have
to be saved for the next album).
What are you listening to? Any great artists you
want to shout out about? Write me and I'll include your list
with mine in future newsletters-
Huge
thanks as always to YOU for reading and supporting and
please write and update me! We couldn't do this without you!
