Push and Pull

Greetings !

Spring has definitely sprung in San Francisco today-and the sun and warm breeze remind me of the carefree week I was lucky to spend in the Bahamas the last week of March-talk about restorative! Since the last newsletter, we played a great show at the Hotel Utah-such an intimate and cozy vibe with all of you who came-and I wanted to give special thanks to Marianna, Thijs and Mafink-for keys/vox, sax and live calligraphy! As well as to Uli for videoing! That was so much fun to fuse art and music (see above, below pics)...here's hoping this newsletter finds you absolutely radiant-here are some special upcoming shows... and as always, a few newsie bits...

(1) Heading to Nashville tomorrow?! YES...
We'll fly in and out to do the showcase April 10th-14th and looking forward to checking out Music Row and cool things to do in Nashville-anyone have ideas for "must sees", please let me know!! Again, thx to Lon for working hard on the perfect guitar parts for our tunes to play in TN-we wish you were coming with us to show off your stuff but we'll settle for playing with you in the near future! We also just were invited to play a few songs on April 11 at the Commodore around 10pm!

(2) SHOWS (see side bar)
This month, on Saturday April 18th at Caffe Trieste, Aoede welcomes all Bay Area singles (and those who just want to meet new people, come anyways :)) here's the deets:

What:

  • Picture singles sitting around tables at a cool café listening to the live music of SF's pop rock Aoede, and the acoustic sounds of D'Tension--your own private concert.
  • Meet lots of people-the ones you choose to meet. Every few songs, when the band takes a break, you’ll move to another table to meet more people. You choose which table(s)
  • Interact with the band, if you choose, through playful audience participation

Who:

  • Singles & people who want to: mingle with others; seek a relaxed cafe atmosphere where you can actually meet the people around you; appreciate soulful music

Why:

  • Spring has sprung! Time to fling into a new romance-or at least meet someone new..
  • Looking for your sweetie for romance for next Saturday night? A new love interest? Maybe you will meet them this Saturday night..
  • A cool relaxing café with cool people. Make new friends!
  • You’ll enjoy the original music.
  • You can take home a CD of “Aoede” to carry the mood into your life.
  • The more time you spend, the more likely you’ll meet your match!

Wallet:

  • Free! Lots of great food and drinks available at reasonable prices. Bring your appetite!

(3) Stories Behind Push and Pull:
the seeds for Something Has Gotten Hold Of You

These stories are just for YOU...Here's the little story behind S.H.G.H.O.Y. This tune comes later on the album...it was inspired by an original poem I wrote back in college at UCSB that I entitled "Cacophony" (side note-that poem ended up in one of those poetry books that you think is cool and then are later asked to purchase...). I still don't know if I was writing about myself or someone else at that time but the words just came easily and translated to somewhat dark quirky lyrics quickly...there is a bit of a Britney S. progression in the chorus-that's ironic I'd say.

What are you listening to?
Any great artists you want to shout out about? Write me and I'll include your list with mine in future newsletters-my sister just gave a shout out about Kutiman.

Huge thanks as always to YOU for reading and supporting and please write and update me! We couldn't do this without you!
