Greetings:
up close and
personal..
Smile-it uses much fewer muscles
than a frown.. (ok-actually the straight dope informs me that
urban legend is false-it is actually one more muscle to
smile, but aren't we splitting hairs??) I am quite inspired
right now-here's trusting September is treating you very
well...Wow-it just hit me that (above) that is my last
picture with long hair...I finally took the plunge on Friday
and chopped it off-and gasp-there are some curls underneath
all that! August was a roller coaster of sorts...personally
I have been on leave from work to deal with some health
issues...I now believe my attitude will pull me through-I
see great health in my present and future...and let me say
THANK YOU to all you have been part of my
journey...
fun
musical moments...
We also had some fun moments in
August at Aroma Roasters We met some cool new fans-3 rock'n
ladies-they came in just as we were finishing our set. They
seemed sad that they missed it so as the band was packing
up, I grabbed my guitar and sang a brand spanking new song
just to them-a song called Poor Blue about my blue Del
Sol...
Musically, I have been dabbling in
writing for another niche...All my musical life, I have kept
my music separate from my day-job. My alter ego when I am not song
writing, recording, performing is working as an
environmental scientist focusing on CA coastal water issues.
I have so often dreamed of making
my livelihood as a singer/songwriter, a slave to my
passion-so many of you artists can probably relate-that I
didn't even consider or visualize combining the two areas
about which I am passionate.. until now! Thanks
TIM
:)
Thus I am forging new musical
territory-I wrote and recorded a new song called
"Blue
Gold" - a fun, catchy pop song with a
surfish vibe (see below). With Coastal Cleanup Day just
around the corner on Sep 19-it seems like a great time to
bring a new type of awareness to this issue. For you Bay
Area folks, great time to volunteer and help clean up your
local creek or beach!
We'd Like To Get
to know you better brunch...or get
re-acquainted!
Save the date: Sep 20th for
September's "I'm Glad I Got-to-Know-You!" Sunday brunch in

Stories Behind The
Muse-ic-the seeds for Blue Gold
...as
usual, these stories are just for you-thank you for reading
and making a connection! Can you believe it? I've covered
the seeds for all 11 tracks on the album now! I want to give
you a special insight this month into my new song, Blue
Gold.
I have been inspired and mesmerized
by water for as long as I can remember-playing in creeks,
watching giant rivers meander, the rocking soothing sounds
of the ocean and tides, raindrops trapped in a spider web...I
integrated water into my career and into where I chose to
live as an adult-on or near the coast-Santa Barbara, Santa
Cruz, San Francisco.. at the same time, I also focus on
preventing or controlling nonpoint source pollution so it
doesn't get to our coast-that's the stuff that comes from
many places. Our everyday activities often
leave a variety of pollutants on the surface of our streets,
sidewalks, parking lots, yards...think of oil and grease
from our cars, pesticides from our gardens, dirt from
construction, or items that we use like cigarettes, plastic
bags that just get dumped. These often end up in our creeks,
rivers, bays and our oceans. Plastic products are
things we use everyday and hardly think about, but they are
hard to dispose of-they don't break down and often will be
just thrown on the ground or blow from trash containers-LA River is an example of an
area that is famous for its mounds of trash and is littered
with plastics..
So I got the idea for a song that
would help to raise awareness about
plastics getting into the environment and to celebrate our
precious liquid resource.. water-done in a catchy memorable
way...here is the lyric: when the recording is complete-I'll
post it.. I have some show and tell for each verse too so if
you are at a show where we play this, be sure to look for it
among our other audience participation toys and feel free to
ask us about it!
Blue
Gold
It
starts with a flick flick a lit stick stick is thrown
down down to the ground washed away, washed
away Out of sight, out of
mind
It
starts with a bag Un-degradable bag Bag is blown
down down to the ground washed away, washed
away Out of sight, out of
mind
So
tell me, does it all come down to you And tell me, tell
me, What can we do to keep you free to
be
Blue gold it's your time to
shi-ine Blue gold nature's swell design Blue gold it's
your time to rise- And high time we
realize
Soiled six-pack
rings rings bob
and sink some
seagull's caught caught like some
drink Far away,
far away Out of sight, out of
mind
Red, orange and blue Blue plastic stew Birds bite and
chew Chew this
strange brew Far
away, far away Out of sight, out of
mind
So
tell me, does it all come down to you And tell me, tell
me What can we
do Are we too blind to
see
Blue gold it's your time to
shi-ine Blue gold
nature's swell design Blue gold it's your
time
You
ebb and you flow You're high then you're low You crash
and you curl You're an ever-changing world You ebb and
you flow You're high then you're low You gleam and you
glide Take me for a ride-on
your
Blue gold it's your time to
shi-ine Blue gold nature's swell design Blue gold till
the end of time Blue gold nothing more
divine Blue gold it's your time to rise... and high
time we realize...
It starts with a wave- A new
wave of change
