Greetings:
up close and
personal.. warm spells
Writing to you from the amazing
Arizona desert...I think it was a mere 88 degrees today-that
seems wrong for November. I am not complaining though. In
San Francisco, it was up to 75 just a few weekends ago...ah
the warm sun-it does wonders for the body and mind...Arizona
has always been a place of extremes...that accounts
partially for its striking beauty, I think...but onto the
music!
memorable musical
moments...music videos!
October was mainly a month of
inspired music videos! It started with a fun song I wrote
for Dave's 50th birthday-gasp-entitled, "50 Things I Fell In Love
With." I made Dave hold up numbered signs from 1-50
corresponding to each of the lines in the song. You can see
the youtube video, which has subtitles for each of the 50
lines, by clicking on the song title
above.
Further, I am happy to have
finally finished the Aoede video that has been in the
works!! Who Is Aoede? This is a
quirky Aoede montage video featuring rare footage of shows,
tour, *pop rocks*, and playful segues...click on the above
link to get to know the muse behind the
music...
Also in the works are some
collaborations with environmental filmmakers, some
film festivals, and HelpBlueWater.com. Perhaps a video for
Blue Gold as well. Stay tuned for more as it all unfolds but
I am excited to be venturing into this territory!
Cool
Stuff-check it out (sidebar) and let me
know if you have stuff to include next time!
SHOWS
As I mentioned last month, we are
taking some time off to write and record.. so we will be
playing fewer Bay Area shows over the next few
months...since I am in Arizona, and Dave in England, we will
not play the last WomenROCK show at Bazaar this month-but
some great women such as Grace Woods are playing so if you
go on Nov. 18, 2009, you won't be
disappointed!
PLEASE
Save The Date! Last Aoede Show for
2009!
I do want to give you a heads up for
our last show of the year! We will play a special intimate
show at Dolores Park Cafe in San Francisco-WomenROCK's new
venue-on Thursday, December 17th, 2009. Please put it on your calendar now
so we can see you and please let me know if you can make the
show by
emailing
me.
Stories Behind The
Muse-ic-the seeds for Poor
Blue
...as
usual, these stories are just for you-thank you for reading
and making a connection! So, I decided to give you the seeds
to some unrecorded songs-but ones we are asked to play
often. Here is one of my newest: Poor
Blue.
This is a fun song about a car-a
car that saw something it shouldn't have. It is done in the
vein of "Fever" and "Black Velvet" to a simple repeating
bass line. I have a '95 blue del sol that keeps getting hit.
It took me about a year and a half to fix it the first
time-considering insurance and repairs...no sooner was it in
perfect condition again when it got hit again-4 weeks
later-same side, same damage...rather than ask why, or what
do I need to keep learning, I said, it's just a car, and
then I thought, maybe it got hit because it saw something go
down on our street. I pictured my del sol not being able to
keep her eyes shut. It was much more fun to write about it
than to get upset..

poor blue! Huge thanks as always to YOU for
reading and supporting and please write and update me! We
couldn't do this without
you!

*COOL STUFF*
Do
YOU have cool stuff you want to share
with others for next month? Send it
our

I
was sitting in the plane watching all these guys watch movies on
their tiny I-Phones-I kept thinking, there's got to be a way to
make a larger screen pop-up but keep the compact size...well many
folks have already done it for me-in the form of video glasses projecting 44-70 inch screens! Here's the
Top 10... Toshiba's is a bit bulky-yes?
Can you find the invisible man in these amazing
artist's photos?
Shouldn't everything taste like bacon even envelopes?
My parents were (and still are) awesome-a site to post pics of your
awesome parents
"I Lost, You Win" is now
permanently placed in the SongVault Directory and in play list on
the SongVault Radio Network as well as Women of Substance Radio!
Thanks to you :)
