Greetings:
up close and
personal.. winter beauty and gratitude
The last storm in San
Francisco brought with it a cold spell and some needed rain
and even blanketed the Bay Area in ice and snow-how lovely
it was to observe and listen to the hard rain and hail
pelting down from the comforts of my warm home with a cup of
tea in one hand and wrapped in blankets-it made me so
grateful to have a home and people to love and ears to
listen with...Here's wishing you and yours a special and
loving December filled with snuggly warmth and comfort-now
onto the music!
memorable musical
moments...
I
play guitar. I often channel my muse, and I then write and
sing with said guitar. Acoustic mostly and electric rhythm
parts. You probably know this already. I do not "play" the
piano, but something draws me to it. It happened with
Annalis and I Lost, You Win-as if the
melodies and parts were just writing themselves in my head
and my fingers were merely the conduits to get them out into
the world. So I went back to the keyboard this month and low
and behold, started composing-I call it that, and I
tell you about it because you might be inspired to pick up
an instrument you don't play and not let the fact that you
can't "play" it get in the way of channeling some part of
you that just yearns to get out into the world--or maybe
you've always wanted to paint or draw but never learned
how-and don't think you'd be any good-take that tube of oil
paint or charcoal and a blank canvas and paint, draw to your
hearts content-no one's watching! go forth and
create!
Cool
Stuff-check it out (sidebar) and let me
know if you have stuff to include next time!

Stories Behind The
Muse-ic-the seeds for Flickerin
...as
usual, these stories are just for you-thank you for reading
and making a connection! So, I decided to give you the seeds
to some musical stories-ones we are asked to play often.
Flickerin was born and
reflects a transition period during 2002. All my creature
comforts were suddenly gone-and I was quick to realize-that
I was not alone in that journey-each one of my family in two
different states had stuff in storage at the same time. We
were all moving on to something, somewhere new-all going
through change even though deep down we wanted to hold on,
to stay where we were...you can click to hear Flickerin-it is
available on our 2006 EP, Ear Candy.
| Flickerin |
Three different
keys to three different lockers Our boxes of
memories Our portable selves Two different
states And three states of mind All in
transition At the same time
And life keeps
flickerin Just when we want it to be still It
keeps on flickerin We can't hold on The moments
they slip Right through our hands It keeps
flickerin
Three different keys Unlock three
different stories Of ending and starting Again
& again And all of us clung to the comfort
of knowing What we were leaving, Leaving
behind
And life keeps flickerin Just when we
want it to be still It keeps on flickerin We
can't hold on The moments they slip Right
though our hands
I put the world into neat
compartments Thought I had figured, figured it
out It keeps flickerin
Life keeps
flickerin Just when we want it to be still It
keeps on flickerin We can't hold on The moments
they slip Right though our hands Right through
our hands Life keeps flickerin Just when we want
it to be still It keeps on flickerin We can't
hold on The moments they slip Right though our
hands It keeps flickerin
